Our Brislington nursery is part of the Broomhill Children's Centre and benefits from close links with and activities centred around the Centre. This is an 'Outstanding', vibrant and exciting setting with extensive indoor and outdoor areas where children explore and learn through discovery. Our Cadbury Heath day nursery is located on the campus of Parkwall Primary School. Benefitting from its own on-site facilities including large, well resourced classrooms, free-flow access to a courtyard garden and on-site drop-off and collection parking, the nursery shares strong links with the school and has a wonderful family feel within the wider school community.

Based in the heart of Clifton in a period property, this nursery has been a home from home for children for around 60 years. Benefitting from extensive rooms and leafy gardens this 66 place setting caters for a broad mix of children fom many different cultures and backgrounds, many of whose parents work at the BBC, BRI or the university. It's a wonderful mix of different influences and languages and a great place to work.

Purpose of the Post

• You will be responsible for a class of children in the age range 3-5 years – their pastoral care, curriculum planning, record keeping as a team leader in partnership with the nursery Nurses.
• The safety and welfare of the children in the class at all times.

Thereby supporting the Nursery Manager by running the room to agreed policies, procedures and directed tasks.

Organisational responsibilities

• Leading the class.
• Supervising and directing Nursery staff in your class.
• To organise and support shared team planning on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• To participate in assessments of, and preparing reports on, children’s work and development.
• Ensuring, with colleagues that the curriculum of the Nursery is seen as a unified whole, that attention is paid to continuity and progression and that work is appropriately matched to individual children’s abilities.
• To keep up to date records, consistent with Ofsted requirements, of children’s progress with input and support from team colleagues. Sharing this knowledge with parents/ carer, both formally and informally using the Nursery’s agreed system.
• Planning, evaluating, assessing and differentiating for each individual child to progress and learn through play.
• Review areas of the curriculum for on going good practice.
• Ensuring the quality of teaching and learning within that planning.
• Supporting and maintaining whole Nursery policy and practice.

Coronation Road is a secure setting set back away from the road in a quiet environment. The setting benefits from play areas front and back, which have been specially prepared for use by babies and toddlers. Children integrate with the Pre-schoolers at Downend Road and make frequent visits to use their garden. The nursery caters exclusively for children from three months to around 30 months in well-resourced rooms specifically designed for these ages.

This wonderful day nursery is based in the old vicarage with extensive gardens, children love the space and character of the place. Registered for 52 children, Downend is one of our smaller settings but has a wonderful, vibrant atmosphere.

Our Fishponds nursery is a wonderful purpose-built setting located in secure gardens just off Thicket Avenue. The timber-built building is set in landscaped gardens designed to be full of areas of discovery and learning. The nursery is divided into three groups – a baby unit for under two’s, a ‘Bouncy’ room for toddlers and a pre-school for three and four year olds.

Mama Bear’s Day Nursery in Hengrove is based on the A37 Wells Road, on the corner with New Fosseway Road. Hengrove is our smallest setting and is particularly cosy. Indoors, the children are split into two groups: downstairs is the Nursery for children under three and upstairs is the Pre-school. This allows for calm and quiet stimulation for the babies as well as a more lively space for the older children to express themselves in.

Located just off the A4 Portway in a 19th Century farm house, our Shirehampton nursery is a hidden jewel. Benefitting from extensive facilities including our own sports and activity hall, front and rear gardens as well as well-equipped rooms, this 68 place nursery has so much to offer the children and staff alike! This is our largest provision but the layout of the setting gives it a cosy, welcoming feel.

Level 3 Nursery Nurse - Full Time
You will have a recognised Childcare / Early Years qualification to a minimum Level 3, with experience of working within a nursery setting. You will also have a demonstrable knowledge of the EYFS. You will work as part of an established team to deliver high standards of care and education for children from three months to five years of age.

Apprentice

You will have empathy with children in the Early Years age group and want to pursue a career in childcare and education. Our Apprenticeships are full-time based on a 37 hour, five day week, with one day for study release (to Level 2 or 3) during term-time. Due to legal requirements, Apprentices must be a minimum of 18 years old by 1st April 2012.

Our Soundwell Nursery is a fantastic purpose-built setting located in secure premises on the corner of Pembroke Road and Church Road, on the City of Bristol College’s grounds behind Kingswood Leisure Centre.

The nursery enjoys strong links with the college but is run independently with all-year round places available to families from the wider community.

Our Head Office is based on the High Street in Hanham, which nestles nicely in between industrious Bristol and picturesque Bath. Here we run our support functions such as Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, Purchasing and Legal. We're a compact, dynamic team focussed on supporting the nursery teams and our clients.
