Mama Bear's Day Nursery is committed to providing the highest standards in daycare. We care for children from 0 - 5 years in five settings across Bristol. If you are BTEC, NNEB, CACHE Diploma, NVQ3 or equivalently qualified and want to bring your skills to this group of exciting and rewarding Day Nurseries then we want to hear from you.

You’ll work in small teams to motivate and enthuse our children. We’ll also expect you to want to continue your professional development and will work with you on individual training programmes to achieve nationally accredited further qualifications.

  Brislington
     
   

Our Brislington nursery is part of the Broomhill Children's Centre and benefits from close links with and activities centred around the Centre. This is an 'Outstanding', vibrant and exciting setting with extensive indoor and outdoor areas where children explore and learn through discovery. Candidates must enjoy initiating activities as part of a large team in this 64 place setting.

Job Title

Early Years Teacher - Full Time

Purpose of the Post
• You will be responsible for a class of children in the age range 3-5 years – their pastoral care, curriculum planning, record keeping as a team leader in partnership with the nursery Nurses.
• The safety and welfare of the children in the class at all times.
Thereby supporting the Nursery Manager by running the room to agreed policies, procedures and directed tasks.

Organisational responsibilities
• Leading the class.
• Supervising and directing Nursery staff in your class.
• To organise and support shared team planning on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• To participate in assessments of, and preparing reports on, children’s work and development.
• Ensuring, with colleagues that the curriculum of the Nursery is seen as a unified whole, that attention is paid to continuity and progression and that work is appropriately matched to individual children’s abilities.
• To keep up to date records, consistent with Ofsted requirements, of children’s progress with input and support from team colleagues. Sharing this knowledge with parents/ carer, both formally and informally using the Nursery’s agreed system.
• Planning, evaluating, assessing and differentiating for each individual child to progress and learn through play.
• Review areas of the curriculum for on going good practice.
• Ensuring the quality of teaching and learning within that planning.
• Supporting and maintaining whole Nursery policy and practice.

Team Leader Toddlers - Full Time

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of nursery experience, ideally with supervisory experience. Thorough knowledge of the EYFS is required. Responsibilities include:

• Planning, monitoring and evaluating routines and activities for your age group of children, under the direction of the Manager and within the over-arching theme for the month.

• Delivering high standards of care and education through your team of Nursery Nurses and Assistants, promoting good practice and being a role model for staff and children.

• To ensure the safety and welfare of the children in the room at all times.

Many benefits include 5 weeks holidays and contributory pension.

Level 3 Nursery Nurse - Full Time
You will have a recognised Childcare / Early Years qualification to a minimum Level 3, with experience of working within a nursery setting. You will also have a demonstrable knowledge of the EYFS. You will work as part of an established team to deliver high standards of care and education for children from three months to five years of age.
Starting salary from £6.10p.h.

Based in the heart of Clifton in a period property, this nursery has been a home from home for children for around 60 years. Benefitting from extensive rooms and leafy gardens this 66 place setting caters for a broad mix of children fom many different cultures and backgrounds, many of whose parents work at the BBC, BRI or the university. It's a wonderful mix of different influences and languages and a great place to work!

Job Title

Deputy Manager / Pre-school Team Leader - Full Time

The Deputy Nursery Manager will have a minimum NVQ level 3 in Childcare & Education with at least 3 years post qualification day nursery experience. They will demonstrate good knowledge of the EYFS and be familiar with The Bristol Standard.

Reporting to this post (when the Manager is absent): Room Leaders, Nursery Nurses and Assistants, Playworkers and other support staff.

Purpose of the Post:
To assist the Nursery Manager and to be responsible in the absence of the Nursery Manager for:

• The overall management of the Nursery, effective leadership of all the staff within the Nursery. The activities, planning, monitoring and evaluation.
• The care and education of the children in these rooms as required, exemplifying good practice and being a role model for other staff.
• The safety and welfare of the children in the rooms at all times.
• To assume responsibility for the daily operation of the Nursery with agreed plans and budgets.
• To provide a dynamic, active learning environment for the children on a day-to-day basis.
• Through reflective observations, support, monitor and recommend improvements for quality in all working areas.


When not covering for the Manager, the Deputy Manager will be counted in numbers.

 

Baby & Toddler Unit Leader - Full Time

The Baby and Toddler Unit Leader will have at least 3 years post qualified to NNEB / NVQ Level 3 in Childcare & Education with nursery experience and demonstrate good EYFS knowledge.

Reporting to this post Baby and Toddler Team Leaders and their teams.

Purpose of the Post
To be responsible for:

• The overall management of the Baby and Toddler rooms, effective leadership of Room Leaders, staff, activities, planning, monitoring and evaluation.
• The care and education of the children in these rooms as required, exemplifying good practice and being a role model for other staff.
• Assisting the Room Leaders in their general duties as required.
• The safety and welfare of the children in the rooms at all times.
Also:
• To assume responsibility for the daily operation of the Nursery in the absence of the Nursery Manager and Deputy.
• To assist the Nursery Manager and Nursery staff in providing a dynamic, active learning environment for the children on a day-to-day basis.
• To continuously support, monitor and recommend improvements for quality in the Baby and Toddler Rooms to the Nursery Manager.
Thereby supporting the Nursery Manager by running the rooms to agreed policies, procedures and directed tasks.


Level 3 Nursery Nurse - Full Time
You will have a recognised Childcare / Early Years qualification to a minimum Level 3, with experience of working within a nursery setting. You will also have a demonstrable knowledge of the EYFS. You will work as part of an established team to deliver high standards of care and education for children from three months to five years of age. Starting salary from £6.10p.h.

This wonderful day nursery is the latest Mama Bear's setting. Based in the old vicarage with extensive gardens, children love the space and character of the place. Registered for 52 children, Downend is one of our smaller settings but has a wonderful, vibrant atmosphere.

  Hengrove
     
   

Conveniently located on the Wells Road, Hengrove is our smallest but cosiest setting. Here children play and learn in smaller groups, cared for by a staff team of around 12. It is ideal for staff who prefer to work in a smaller nursery, although you will of course still be expected to be pro-active in initiating activities to create an exciting, stimulating environment for the children.

Located just off the A4 Portway in a 19th Century farm house, our Shirehampton nursery is a hidden jewel. Benefitting from extensive facilities including our own sports and activity hall, front and rear gardens as well as well-equipped rooms, this 68 place nursery has so much to offer the children and staff alike! This is our largest provision but the layout of the setting gives it a cosy, welcoming feel.

Our Soundwell Nursery is a fantastic purpose-built setting located in secure premises on the corner of Pembroke Road and Church Road, on the City of Bristol College’s grounds behind Kingswood Leisure Centre.
