Mama Bear’s Day Nursery is a family run childcare organisation based in the West Country. We were established in 2002 with the aim of making high-quality, affordable childcare available to families living, working or studying in the South West. We have day nurseries located in Bristol (in Brislington, Cadbury Heath, Clifton, Crew's Hole, Downend, Fishponds, Hengrove, Shirehampton and Soundwell), in Taunton (on the Somerset College campus in Wellington Road), in Yeovil (on Houndstone Close), in Paignton (on the South Devon College campus in Long Road, on Midvale Road and just off King's Ash Road), in Torquay (in St. Marychurch) and in Plymouth (in Pennycross). We pride ourselves on providing childcare of the highest possible standards.

We’re passionate about what we do and work diligently to ensure that this results in safe and happy children in our care. There are many studies that highlight the benefits of care in a day nursery setting but what makes us proudest is that when children leave our Pre-school to go on to 'big' school they do so as confident individuals. However, we also recognise that our role is to support the needs of the family as a whole, especially those where both parents work. To achieve this we have many working-family friendly policies, including longer opening-hours.

We also accept childcare vouchers from most providers and can give advice on tax credits and other help with fees.

We recognise that for many families childcare is a necessary but unwelcome expense. Starting a young child with a carer can also be a stressful experience both for the adult and the child. In all cases we would urge you to spend as much time as possible in selecting the right kind of care as well as the specific provider. 

We understand and regard partnerships with parents and carers to be of the utmost importance to the welfare of their children.

When a child joins us we like to gain as much information as possible about them so that we can make this new experience happy, safe and enjoyable for all concerned. We have an open door policy to welcome parents and carers to spend time with their child or to speak to their Keyworker or Manager about any issues.
